R Ashwin reveals a shocking statement regarding his retirement post WTC

Ravichandran Ashwin has been a phenomenal off-spinner and a valuable asset for the Indian cricket team during his tenure as a bowler. He had been a part of the World Test Championship, which began in 2021 and made his honest contributions by taking up 61 wickets in the tour and showcasing his skills. Although, it come as a massive shock when it was announced that the veteran bowler will not be in the playing 11 for the final test series against Australia.

Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which was held prior to WTC has seen a great deal of performance by Ashwin as he picked up 25 wickets. But it seems like the cricketer was thinking of taking retirement after it as he had disclosed this piece of information to his wife. The test series against Bangladesh at the start of the year had been tough for Ashwin as he started facing difficulty in bowling. In a recent interview with Indian Express, he said that his knee used to pain and it has gotten to swell so he decided on changing his bowling style.

Ashwin further added by saying that there was a load on his knee and went to Bangalore for taking the injection. He then started playing with different action styles for 3-4 hours and the pain would go away. Ashwin hadn’t practiced a single match and directly went on the field and stated that he didn’t feel like a bowler for three to four overs but he took hold of himself because of the self-awareness embed within himself and also received the Player of the Series award.
