Justin Langer to become the new head coach for Lucknow Super Giants- Read

The Indian Premier League made an announcement on Friday regarding the designation of Justin Langer being the head coach of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The team also released a statement about the same matter.

They addressed that the former Australian cricket team coach and batsman have now been appointed as the head coach for LSG. The team even said that as the two years contract of Andy Flower has gotten over, they thank him for his immense contribution.

Justin Langer earlier headed the Australian men’s team after the tragedy of the sandpaper gate scandal. During his tenure, he has helped the team achieve great milestones such as T20 World Cup in 2021, defeating England 4-0 in the Ashes. He even directed the Big Bash franchise Perth Scorchers towards 3 titles. Langer resigned from his position in 2022.

The former cricketer even shared his excitement and stated, “Lucknow Super Giants are on the journey of building a great story in the IPL. We all have a role to play in that journey and I am excited to be a part of the team moving forward.”

The decision comes ahead of the 2024 IPL series. Andy Flower had been a mentor for the team for the last two seasons along with Gautam Gambhir. The team had made it to the playoff for the second time in consecutive years. The owner of Lucknow Super Giants, Sanjiv Goenka had said that they have approached Justin Langer on the recommendation of Gambhir.
