IND vs BAN: Match performer Axar Patel likely to be benched for the 2nd Test

The Indian cricket team defeated Bangladesh in the first Test match at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Sunday, December 18th. The fifth and final day of the Test match. The Indian bowlers finished the match in just 50 minutes on the final day.

India needed four wickets to win at the start of the day, while Bangladesh needed 241 runs. Shakib Al Hasan, the captain, tried hard to counter-attack the Indian bowlers but was eventually dismissed by spinner Kuldeep Yadav. Shakib scored 84 runs in the second innings, making him Bangladesh’s second highest scorer.

Rohit Sharma did not play in the first Test of the two-match series against Bangladesh in Chattogram, which India won by an emphatic 188-run margin to take an unassailable 1-0 lead. Rohit had injured his thumb and was forced to withdraw from the match, with KL Rahul taking his place.

According to sources close to ANI, Rohit has gone for rehabilitation and will be ready for the second Test match in Bangladesh. Due to a thumb injury sustained in the second ODI, Rohit missed the third and final ODI, as well as the first Test, against Bangladesh.

Team India will have to put in a lot of effort with the playing XI even with Rohit Sharma’s return for the second Test because current opener Shubman Gill did well in the first Test and Cheteshwar Pujara was hard to replace after his match-winning performances in both innings. Due to one‘s vice captain status and another’s experience, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli cannot be benched for Rohit Sharma.
