The anime is adapted from Hiroki Adachi’s manga series, which was published in 2011 and has 16 volumes in total. It was then later renewed for an animated series and created by Clover Works. Season one was released on the 10th of January 2021. The second season is directed by Masashi Ishihama just like the first one.

Horimiya revolves around the story of two classmates Kyoko Hori, a beautiful and popular girl, and Izumi Miyamura, who is introverted and shy. Their personalities are dignified within the four walls of the school as in the outside world, they led a totally different life. These characteristics are only witnessed inside of school.

Izumi isn’t the shy type outside and leads an adventurous life, donning tattoos and earrings while Kyoko is calm and dresses down while also taking care of her younger brother Souta. Due to the series of occurrences, they both encounter each other outside school and decide to not reveal each other’s true identities to their peers. As a result of this event, they start spending more time together and develop feelings. By the end of the show, they confess their love and even their friends approve of their relationship.

It will be exciting to watch the latest season and what twists and turns it will reveal as the show progresses.
