Google’s AI can predict cardiovascular diseases just through an eye scan: Sundar Pichai
The CEO of Google recently made an announcement regarding the new development that the experts of their organization have been working on. He stated that the artificial intelligence program being developed by Google will create a major change in the health industry as it will be able to predict the potential internal issues of humans with just the help of an eye scan.
Four years ago, Google collaborated with Aravind Eye Hospital for creating a tool that can detect if a person is suffering from diabetic retinopathy, also known as a major cause of blindness. The built-up algorithm can also easily diagnose the inhabited disease with the help of retinal pictures. Moreover, Google made a tool that can reveal a person’s gender, smoking status and risks of having a heart attack within the coming five years by using retinal images.
The AI can also predict health issues that even industry experts couldn’t identify by providing early insights into their deteriorating conditions like dementia, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s. The blood vessels in the retina of the eye can be utilized by doctors to examine prospective details like age, gender, blood pressure, and eating habits, which are also the components that predict cardiovascular diseases.
With the help of the newly generated technology, patients can click their picture and upload it to the cloud, which will then send an exemplified list of probable issues. This advancement will surely bring out more efficiency than the traditional method of diagnostics and provide prompt details without location and time being a concern.
