Google is rolling out a new feature for its Gmail app, which will let users translate emails into their native language. The feature which was previously available on the web, will now be coming on Android and iOS devices. The new feature supports around hundred languages, which will help users living in any part of the world translate languages natively.

When users will receive mail in a different language, Gmail will automatically showcase a tab asking if they want to translate it into their preferred language. The feature was highly wanted by the users as it made their work easier. The feature can also be turned off by going to the settings option and selecting “Don’t translate again.”

In Android devices, the feature got introduced yesterday, the 8th of August. While for the iOS owners, the enhancement will be applicable in a few weeks from now. It will also be available in all Google Workspaces.

How to translate emails on your mobile phones

  • In order to translate a message, click on the “Translate” option showcased at the top of your mail account.
  • In any case, if you neglect the tab, it will appear again when you receive mail in a different language other than the default “Google.com Mail display language.”
  • Users can also turn off the feature by going to the settings option and selecting “Don’t translate again.”
  • If the translation tab icon doesn’t pop up when receiving a different language mail, users can go to the three dots menu and translate it manually.
