Cricket is called ‘Gentleman’s game’ but at the same time it is very unfair to some of the legendary players. The World Cup is a feat that every cricketer wants to win some of greats have never won it. Here are 5 legendary cricketers who never won a World Cup.

Brian Lara

Brian Charles Lara, popularly known as Brian Lara, has never won a World Cup in his career. The great West Indies batsman and captain is the first player to score 400 runs in an innings of a game. He has played five World Cups (1992, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2007) for the West Indies team.

Waqar Younis

Pakistani Cricketer Waqar Younis has never won a World Cup. Waqar is known as one of the top most swing bowler in the Cricketing history. He played total 13 World Cup matches.

Kumar Sangakkara

Kumar Sangakkara has not won any World Cup for Sri Lanka. It was painful to see Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene getting coupled in their careers. The 2011 World Cup Sri Lanka vs India was the most memorable innings for any Indian cricket fan as MS Dhoni hit a six to lift the cup for India after 28 years.

Shahid Afridi

Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi, popularly known as Boom Boom Afridi, has played four World Cup tournaments for Pakistan but never won any.

AB de Villiers

South African legend AB De Villiers has featured in three World Cup editions and the closest he had reached was in the semi-final stage of 2007 and 2015 editions never won any. Even after his retirement, there was speculation of him coming out of retirement.
