IPL Auctions: Check out the purse balance, retained players, and available slots for LSG

Indian Premier League (IPL) released the list for the upcoming auction, which will take place in Kochi on December 23. A total of 405 cricket players will be auctioned off. The 10 franchises initially selected 369 players from the list of 991 players who had signed up for the IPL’s 2023 season. A total of 405 players will be offered at the IPL 2023 Auction after the franchises later requested the addition of 36 players, who were included in the final list.

Out of those 405 players in the list, 273 are Indians, 132 are overseas players while four are from associate nations. Meanwhile, 119 of those 405 players are capped international players while 282 are uncapped.

One of the two new teams for the IPL 2022 season, Lucknow Super Giants, finished fourth in the most recent competition. KL Rahul continues to lead the team after the debut year with coach Andy Flower. Last year in 2022, Sanjiv Goenka was able to call the final bid in the team auctions as he acquired Lucknow Super Giants for a whopping amount of ₹7090 crore.

The Right to Match (RTM) option will not be available in the IPL auction of 2023. Each team may select a squad of no more than 25 players. The team can only select a maximum of 8 foreign players from among these. 75% of each franchise’s total salary cap must be used. Beyond the salary cap, there can be no purchases made. In the IPL auction 2023, each team is subject to a total salary cap of Rs. 95 crores. 5 crores more than the previous auction, to be exact.

LSG has a purse balance of ₹23.35 crore and have available slots for 10 players, 4 of which are slots for overseas players.
