At the start of the day, India needed four wickets to win, while Bangladesh needed 241 runs. Shakib scored 84 runs and was Bangladesh’s second highest scorer in the second innings.

Domingo stated that he is unsure whether Shakib al Hasan will be able to bowl if he plays the next game, admitting that this is an issue because it affects the team’s balance heading into the second Test in Dhaka.

Earlier before the first Test Shakib left the group practice to have his ribs examined by a doctor after Umran Malik injured them during the recently concluded ODI series in Dhaka. Shakib Al Hasan was injured on Umran Malik’s delivery in the recent ODI series which has forced the batsman to go for further scans.

“I am not a hundred percent sure whether he will be available to bowl. He’s definitely able to play as a batter which is an issue for us since we need an all-rounder. So at the moment he will need to be assessed in a day or two but at the moment fit to play as a batter,” Domingo said.
