In the ongoing Test match between India and Bangladesh, debutant and opening batsman of hosts Zakir Hasan managed to score an incredible century. Zakir becomes the fourth Bangladeshi batsman to score a Test century on debut. Aminul Islam, Mohammad Ashraful and Abul Hasan are the other three Bangladeshi batsmen who scored a century on Test format.
On Day 4, Zakir Hasan was ecstatic following the stumps. Rahul Dravid, the legendary batsman and head coach of India, surprised the 24-year-old by congratulating him for his heroic performance in the first Test while checking the pitch just before the debutant was about to address the press conference.
“Sir (Rahul) greeted me. He said I batted well. It is inspirational for such a great player and coach coming to congratulate me. It is a great feeling,” said Zakir. “I feel good scoring a hundred. I didn’t have much expectations and all I wanted was to bat long since we are facing two days and a big total.
