US & South Korea jointly launch ballistic missiles in response to North Korea’s weapon test

The Joint Chiefs of Staff said that the ground to ground Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) missiles were launched in the East Sea.

On Monday, June 6, the US and South Korea jointly fired eight ballistic missiles in response to North Korea’s weapon test, as reported by AFP.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff said that the ground to ground Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) missiles were launched in the East Sea. The previous day North Korea had launched eight short-range ballistic missiles.

The South Korean military released a statement condemning the act of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. “Our military strongly condemns the North’s series of ballistic missile provocations and sternly urges it to immediately stop acts that raise military tensions on the peninsula,” stated the military.

The US has been continuously supporting South Korea in its fight to maintain peace on the Korean peninsula. This is a second such operation between Washington and Seoul since the start of the year 2022.
