Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan has been imprisoned for 3 years. This news came to light when he got arrested in the Toshakhana case. The politician has been selling gifts illegally that he received from foreign countries, during his tenure as a PM.

The Islamabad court has also restricted him from participating in politics actively for a period of five years. The respective court’s judge Humayun Dilawar announced the verdict on Saturday which came out as a shock. However, Khan has denied all the allegations and his legal team would file an appeal immediately.

The gifts included watches given by the royal family and many other goodies during his visits and were reported to be sold in Dubai. The 70-year-old had sold the gifts that were under the possession of the state and worth more than 140 million Pakistani rupees ($497,500).

The verdict also mentions a fine of 1,00,000 rupees ($355) and if it is not paid then his time in jail could be extended to six months more. The politician was arrested to transferred to Islamabad, as confirmed by Chief Bilal Siddique. He would further be taken to the Central Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.

Imran Khan also shot a video before his arrest and post it on X, previously known as Twitter. He has urged people to not sit at home but to take the protests on the road. The politician has also stated how if they don’t stand up for their rights, they will have to live life as slaves.
