Russia must not be humiliated, give space for diplomatic solutions: French President Emmanuel Macron
The president also signalled that Paris would play a medication role in bringing an end to the conflict.
On Saturday, June 4, French President Emmanuel Macron said that it’s not wise to humiliate Russia so that diplomatic solutions can be found after the war in Ukraine stops. The president also signalled that Paris would play a medication role in bringing an end to the conflict.
“We must not humiliate Russia so that the day when the fighting stops we can build an exit ramp through diplomatic means,” said President Macros in an interview with a regional newspaper.
Macron has been in continuous contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin since the start of the war and is always persuading him to end the war and to have diplomatic talks with Ukraine. The French president has described Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine as a historical mistake. “I think, and I told him, that he is making a historic and fundamental mistake for his people, for himself and for history,” Macron said.
Meanwhile, the Russia-Ukraine war has entered its 101st day and still, there are no signs of ending it any time soon. Several sanctions have been imposed on Russia and the West is planning to impose more.
