Biden-Xi Meeting: US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping have kickstarted direct talks outside of the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia. According to Nigel Green, CEO and founder of deVere Group, one of the biggest independent financial advisory, asset management, and fintech organizations in the world, investors from all over the world will be closely watching the meeting between Joe Biden and Xi Jinping in hopes of finding “bullish signals.”

The largest economic leaders in the globe haven’t met in person since the pandemic began, according to Green. As ties between the two economic superpowers deteriorate, it is a crucial one. Investors will be closely examining the wording and tone in search of encouraging signs.

“Any sign that Biden might eliminate tariffs would be very optimistic. The same goes for Xi’s suggestion that he should abandon his Zero Covid policy, which has had a crippling effect on the Chinese economy and international supply networks. Investors would be encouraged by a sign that China may pressure Putin to halt the conflict in Ukraine” continues Green.

The two countries’ relationship has worsened since Biden entered office, putting them in danger of engaging in economic or possibly military war. While US officials declined to outline any precise outcomes they anticipate from the Xi meeting, they indicated he would want to put barriers in place. According to American partners, the US should priorities communication in its efforts to promote stability in the Taiwan Strait.

“We rarely misinterpret each other, “Biden told reporters in Cambodia on Sunday. We simply need to establish the red lines and determine what matters most to each of us over the course of the next two years.”

US sources claimed that discussions regarding the meeting’s structure continued far into the night on Sunday, foreshadowing a tightly staged event. Senior Biden administration officials claimed on Monday that the preparation for the meeting with their Chinese counterparts, which took about a month, had already helped to improve ties.
