Google introduces a new anti-stalking feature for security measures- Check details here

Google has taken an advanced step in keeping users’ safety the top priority by introducing “Unknown Tracker Alerts.” Which was initially introduced during the company’s event. The latest feature will inform the users instantly if there is an unknown Bluetooth device in the vicinity.

The main function of this feature is to identify prominent stalkers who misuse Bluetooth tracking devices, for example, Apple AirTags. Which is highly misused by stalkers for tracking their targets.

With the new feature, Android smartphones will alert the users if an unfamiliar Bluetooth tracker is found in the nearby area. If the tracker is traveling along with the individual, a similar message will be conveyed along with the last location of the tracker. Also, there is a ‘Play sound’ option in order to trigger the tracker to make noise.

If the tracker is detected in close proximity, Google will provide information such as the serial number, the last four digits of the phone number of the owner, and also details on how to disable the tracking. By receiving alerts from the device, users can get information about the tracker and also get guidance as to what steps to be taken further.

Google also introduced another feature known as the ‘Manual Scan’ option. Users can access the respective feature by clicking on the Settings panel and then searching the Safety & Emergency option. Through that, they will have to go to Unknown Tracker Alerts and then select Scan Now.

This feature takes up to 10 minutes in generating a list of trackers available in the vicinity. By clicking on the potential tracker, users get guidance on what steps to take further.

This enhancement is compatible with Android devices running on 6.0 and after versions. With this advancement, Google provides security to the users that helps in having them full control over tracking and also to be safe from any mishappenings.
