On the 22nd of June, Microsoft made an announcement regarding the new feature that has been enhanced in Teams. Members of the Public Preview channel can get access to the latest update which provides animated background for users while video conferencing. It will replace the existing backdrop with distinct animation that will create a better visual presentation.

The new feature will provide with users to escalate their professional meetings by adding personalized setups. Although, for now only default backgrounds are supported on the portal. Users can look for the update in Windows and macOS Teams as well.

The option can be made available before the meeting by selecting Effects and Avatars> Video effects and then choosing a background of their choice. A small video icon will be indicated on the bottom left of the preview image to decide on picking up the setup.

If the users have to change the background during an ongoing meeting then they will have to click on More> Effects and Avatars> Select a background. Individuals can now hold meetings in an instant without the background is a major concern.

But any new advancement also comes with major drawbacks. In the case of animated backgrounds, it won’t be applicable to low-end devices as it requires at least 8 GB RAM and a CPU with four processors. Also, only predefined backgrounds are available as of now, and using video filters can slow down the animation if the computer has excessive work load.
