Vitalii Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, through Telegram said that three explosions were heard by a witness, and that multiple booms had shaken the Shevchenkivskyi neighbourhood in the city’s capital. He stated that several residential units had caused some damage.

Russian forces launched their second attack in a week on the Ukrainian capital while fierce combat erupted around two eastern Donbas villages between Russian and Ukrainian forces, officials said.

This past weekend, the industrial Donbass cities of Donetsk and Luhansk as well as the southern Kherson region particularly witnessed intense faceoff. They make up three of the four districts that Russia claimed to have annexed last month after conducting supposed referendums that Kyiv and Western nations criticized as fraudulent and oppressive.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Soledar and Bakhmut are the main flashpoints in the Donbas. There is an extremely fierce combat going on.

Following the seizure of the twin industrial towns of Lysychansk and Sievierodonetsk in June and July, Bakhmut has been a target for Russian forces as they slowly advance across the area.  Just a short distance north of Bakhmut is Soledar.

The Donetsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions have witnessed Ukrainian forces try to advance, as reported by the Russian defence ministry on Sunday. Russia said that it was still undertaking airstrikes in Ukraine targeting energy and military bases.

On February 24, in what it described as a “special operation,” Russia deployed tens of thousands of troops into Ukraine to wipe out what it perceived to be dangerous nationalists. Armed with weapons supplied by the United States and its allies, who have also imposed broad sanctions on Russia in an effort to push it to quit, Ukrainian forces have waged a resolute fight.

According to the chief of the president’s staff, Andriy Yermak, alleged kamikaze drones bombed Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, on Monday away from the conflict lines. “Russians assume it will be beneficial to them,” Yermak observed.

The same region was shelled by Soviet Union a week ago, as Russia ordered the biggest aerial combat against Ukranian cities in counterstroke for a blast on a major bridge linking mainland Russia to Crimea-the peninsula Russia annexed from Ukraine in 2014.

The administration building in the regional capital of Donetsk, according to the head of the Russian-backed government there, was devastated by Ukrainian shelling on Sunday.

“Since the building took a direct impact, substantial damage has been done. It’s a wonder no one got hurt “Alexei Kulemzin said that all city services were still operational while assessing the debris.

The attack on Donetsk city, which along with sections of the Donbas was annexed by separatists with Russian military in 2014, drew no immediate response from Ukraine.

On Telegram, the pro-Russian military station Rybar said that Ukrainian soldiers had once more shelled the nearby Ukrainian town of Belgorod in southwest Russia.

The majority of the attacks were intercepted by anti-aircraft troops, however two explosions struck close to the airport. It reported there were three injuries.
