Army helicopter crashes in Tawang district

According to a report by ANI, an Indian Army Cheetah helicopter crashed near the Tawang area in Arunachal Pradesh, the pilot flying the chopper Lt Col Saurabh Yadav lost his life and the co-pilot is undergoing treatment.

The Cheetah Helicopter is used by the Indian Army for transportation and utility in high-altitude regions of Ladakh, Siachen, Arunachal and Kashmir.

The Cheetah is a license production variant of the French Aérospatiale SA 315B Lama manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in the late 70s.
