Amazon has laid off around 500 of its employees in India, which is part of the 9,000 job cuts announced by CEO Andy Jassy in March, as per reports. The India layoffs have been carried out across verticals such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Human Resources (HR), revealed by people familiar with the matter.
However, the tech giant is yet to confirm these reports of job cuts.
As reported by Money Control, the company, founded by Jeff Bezos, as part of its restructuring in India has shut down Amazon Digital Kendras, a seller-support function of its e-commerce business in the country. As a result of this shutdown, the employees working in that division are either been released or reassigned to a separate department with the company.

Moreover, the organisation has pulled the plug on some of its seller onboarding functions in tier-2 cities like Kochi and Lucknow.
However, there is also possibility that the Digital Kendras might be reopened or revamped in the near future.
Meanwhile, the reports of lay-off comes after November’s job cuts, when the tech giant had reduced 18,000 employees. It was their largest workforce reduction.
