“Agni-Samadhi” Unveiled: Poet Vimal Mehra’s Ode to Chittorgarh’s Heroism
In a literary celebration held at Bal Niketan School, Jodhpur, the narrative poem Agni-Samadhi by Vimal Mehra was officially launched. The poem recounts the heroic saga of Chittorgarh’s first Saka and Jauhar, reflecting the valor and sacrifices of its people. Organized by the Society for Creative Satisfaction, the event was graced by senior critic Dr. Ramakant Sharma and other eminent literary personalities.
Society president Dr. Sunil Mathur welcomed the dignitaries, while secretary Kamal Sharma shared the organization’s journey toward its upcoming silver jubilee. The poet was ceremonially honored, and Mehra’s recitation of Agni-Samadhi captivated the audience.
Guest of honor Hari Prakash Rathi commended Mehra for capturing India’s historical traditions in poetic form, emphasizing its relevance in today’s world. Chief guest Dr. Haridas Vyas appreciated the balance of structure and emotion in the poem, while Dr. Sharma noted the richness of India’s metrical tradition, urging poets to stay rooted in it.
Vimal Mehra, an accomplished poet with works like Gaa mere mann gaa and Milan suron ki bansuriya, continues to make significant contributions to Indian literature. His upcoming narrative poem Shakutala promises to add another feather to his cap.
