Former US president Donald Trump stated on Monday that he will be making a “big announcement” next week in Florida, where it is anticipated that the Republican will enter the 2024 presidential election.
“Not to detract from tomorrow’s very important, even critical election. I’m going to be making a very big announcement on Tuesday, November 15 at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida,” he told a cheering crowd on Monday while running for office in Ohio, according to news reports.
Donald Trump has contested for president of the United States in two elections so far. Trump won the 2016 presidential election, defeating Democrat Hillary Clinton, to become the 45th leader of the free world. Trump ran for reelection in 2020 but was defeated by Joe Biden, the incumbent US president. Trump has recently become more open about his intentions to run for president for the third time. According to AFP, he stated in Miami on Sunday night, “I will probably have to do it again, so stay tuned.”

In the meantime, President Joe Biden made a final plea on Tuesday, hours before the midterm elections, pleading with voters to defend democracy by supporting Democrats and defeating Trump’s Republicans in a contest that, according to polls, has the potential to shake up the balance of power in Washington.
“Our lifetimes are going to be shaped by what happens. We know in our bones that our democracy is at risk and we know that this is your moment to defend it,” Biden said. “The power’s in your hands,” he told Democrats. “So vote, get out the vote.”
Democrats led by Joe Biden presently hold both the Senate and the House of Representatives. Democrats’ influence over the next two years of President Joe Biden’s term would be considerably reduced if any of both bodies were lost to the Republicans. According to experts quoted by US media, Biden would be immersed in a never-ending political battle in Washington.
