Zelensky access damage in recaptured towns; Russia hits dam in Kryvyi Rih

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made an assessment of the damage of the recaptured cities and towns caused by Russian forces.

A major urban centre, Kryvyi Rih, with a pre-war population of 650,000 experienced flooding after 8 Russian cruise missiles hit its reservoir built on the Inhulets River.

Zelensky said in a video address released early on Thursday. “The water system had “no military value” and hundreds of thousands of civilians depend on it daily”.

Oleksandr Vilkul, the leader of the Krivyi Rih military administration, wrote on Telegram that 112 residences were under water but that repairs to the Inhulets river dam were in progress and that “flooding was receding.”

This month, Ukrainian forces conducted a quick armoured push into the Kharkiv region in the northeast, forcing a hasty Russian withdrawal, which resulted in a surprising defeat for Russian forces.

Zelensky paid a surprise visit to Izyum on Wednesday, which had been the main Russian stronghold in the Kharkiv region until four days prior. There, he observed the raising of the blue-and-yellow Ukrainian flag in front of the destroyed city council building. He visited troops in the recaptured city of Izyum

Earlier today, it was reported by a Ukrainian official that Zelensky had met with an accident while we visiting the above-mentioned liberated areas Kharkiv region.

A passenger vehicle collided with the president’s motorcade in the Ukrainian capital, his spokesman, Sergii Nikiforov, stated in a Facebook post.

The driver of the other vehicle received first aid from Zelenskyy’s medical team and was taken away by ambulance, he said.

According to Nikiforov, doctors evaluated the president and found no significant injuries. He made no mention of any possible injuries Zelenskyy may have sustained.

The spokesman added that the circumstances of the accident are under investigation.
