Government plans to strengthen its disaster warning system

The government is planning to widen its disaster warning system CAP to cover all cover television, radio and railway stations to inform people about any natural disaster or security incidents. CAP or Common Alert Protocol which is developed by Centre for Development Telematic for National Disaster Management Authority, will be developed in the second phase to raise alarms about security issues at district level like fire, landslide etc.

C-DoT executive director Raj Kumar Upadhyay said, “We have incorporated a radio station, DTH player and railway station for sending out alerts. In the second phase we will scale it up to cover all radio, TV, railway station etc. for sending out warning alerts. It will be operational even at district level,”.
