US industrial conglomerate 3M Co. recently set a deadline to stop making ‘forever chemicals’ which is referred to as PFAS. PFAS are used in almost everything, from cell phones to semiconductors.

This deadline to stop making PFAS came after considering that these “forever chemicals” are a major factor for illness ranging from cancer, heart problems, low birthweights, and other related illnesses.

The per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances are known as forever chemicals because they do not decompose quickly and have recently been discovered in drinking water, soils, and foods all over the country in dangerous concentrations.
