Vedanta appoints Mike Young as Senior VP to look after its semiconductor business with Foxconn in India

Vedanta-Foxconn Semiconductors Limited (VFSL), a joint venture between Vedanta and Foxconn announced, on May 25, that is has appointed Mike Young as senior vice president, project management office and manufacturing operations.

In this role, Young is expected to oversee the execution of manufacturing and operational processes as the company gears up to set its first semiconductor fab in India.

The appointment of Young comes at a time when Anil Agarwal led Vedanta is on an aggressive talent hunt globally to attract leaders from teh semiconductor of industry.

Young joins Vedanta after taking a short sabbatical from his previous role as CEO of Systems on Silicon Manufacturing Company (SSMC), Singapore. He has also served as CEO of X-FAB Sarawak, Malaysia.

In a statement released by Vedanta, it mentioned that Young has “extensively worked” in areas of yield, operations, and device engineering with global leaders like X-FAB UK, Siemens, Atmel, and Plessey Semiconductors. The statement added that throughout his career, he has been able to achieve the desired results due to his “demonstrated excellence” in governance and control of high performing facilities through a combination of effective man management, cost control, operational performance enhancement, and continuous improvement.
