Sonia Gandhi will be taking part in the Yatra for the first time; it started when she was away for a medical examination.

Rahul Gandhi arrived in Gundlupet, Karnataka, on September 30 after walking continuously as part of the Yatra from Gudalur in the neighbouring Tamil Nadu state.

With elections in Karnataka scheduled for next year, the Yatra has entered a vital phase and is travelling through a state that is currently governed by the BJP for the first time.
