Sensex rises over 350 points, while the Nifty trades beyond 15,450

On Tuesday, Indian equities indexes opened higher on the back of favourable global market signals.

Markets began the day in the green, as investors sought to fight off worries of a recession. The Sensex was up 405.99 points, or 0.79 percent, at 52003.83 at 09:16 IST, while the Nifty was up 117.30 points, or 0.76 percent, at 15467.50.

Market Cues:

Following a strong lead from Europe and some stability returning to markets after last week’s big losses, Asian stocks began marginally higher Tuesday morning, extending the previous day’s gains. The MSCI Asia-Pacific stock index outside of Japan was up 0.81 percent.

As investors await Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s speech to the US Congress later this week, Tokyo stocks opened higher on Tuesday. The Nikkei 225 index jumped 1.07 percent to 26,047.10, or 275.88 points, while the Topix index rose 1.20 percent to 1,840.72, or 21.78 points.
