Jain made the assertion after being challenged with evidence linked to his involvement in trusts that received money from hawala activities, according to Additional Solicitor General (ASG) S V Raju.

In his submission to the Rouse Avenue Court last week, ASG Raju, appearing on behalf of the ED, said, “He’s a very slow writer. Takes about two hours to write one page. His statement has to be taken in his handwriting otherwise he says ‘it’s not my statement’.”

On May 30, the Delhi minister was detained in connection with a money laundering investigation. In April this year, the ED attached properties worth Rs 4.81 crore belonging to the Aam Aadmi Party minister’s family in a disproportionate assets case.
Based on a FIR filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against Jain and others under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act, the ED launched a money laundering investigation.
From assets linked to Jain, the financial investigation agency discovered Rs 2.82 crores in cash and 1.8 kg of gold.
With the help of his wife, daughters, friends, and aides, the Aam Aadmi Party minister is accused of laundering nearly Rs 16 crore through hawala transactions.
