The Russian Consulate General in Chennai, Oleg Avdeev, welcomed Indian students to finish their studies in Russia on November 10 because the country’s medical curriculum is nearly identical to Ukraine’s, despite the ongoing crisis between Russia and Ukraine that has lasted for months.

Avdeev said in a media interview “Due to the nearly identical medical curriculum in Russia, Indian students who fled Ukraine can continue their education there (as Ukraine). Since the majority of people in Ukraine spoke Russian, they are conversant in that language. In Russia, they are most welcome.”

On the other hand, on October 23, the Indian embassy in Kiev issued a warning urging Indian people currently living in the war-torn nation to evacuate as soon as possible. Additionally, it provided details on the five possibilities for Indian nationals to enter the border.

On October 20, the Indian Embassy in Ukraine released a statement urging Indian citizens not to visit Ukraine due to Russia’s escalating hostilities toward the Eastern European nation.

Following the Russian invasion of the Asian nation in February, many of Indian students in Ukraine left.
