Reliance Jio in talks with Tesla to set up manufacturing plant in India
As Tesla explores setting up a manufacturing plant in India for their automobiles, Reliance Jio is in talks with the American company with an offer of captive private network for its factory. The network would manage all the critical operations at faster speed and also looks at the connected car solutions, automation of production processes, among other, as shared by the industry sources.
The sources have revealed that the talks between Tesla and Jio are still are preliminary stage and any development would be possible, only if the former company firms up its plan of setting up a manufacturing plant in India.
As per reports by Financial Express, a query had been sent to Jio regarding the same but no response was received. However, an executive of Jio, on condition of anonymity said that 5G is about enterprises connectivity and the company is reaching out to firms in the manufacturing, automobiles, healthcare, and other industries with possible use cases. They are also offering to build and manage their networks.
While employing a captive private 5G network, the major benefit would be that the company will be able to experience high data speed and data carrying within their premises, which would not have been possible for the public networks.
