PM Modi to launch projects worth Rs 3900 crore in Surat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate and lay the foundation stonesfor multiple development projects totalling Rs 3,400 crore in Surat on September 29 as part of his two-day visit to Gujarat. Among the proposals are a science museum, a biodiversity event, and the Dream City project, which would cost 370 billion rupees.

 

Officials from the municipal corporation, the police, and the district administration have been keeping an eye on the Nilgiri Ground in Limbayat, Surat, in preparation for the PM’s arrival. It is the same location where Modi spoke at open forums prior to the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The area has a large migrant population with the majority hailing from Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. It is located in the Lok Sabha constituency of BJP MP and state BJP president CR Patil and the BJP MLA Sangita Patil. Over 1.50 lakh individuals can fit on a surface measuring more than one million square metres. The location has also been equipped with a helipad because the PM will fly into Surat airport and then take a chopper to go there. According to sources, over 80,000 food packets have been prepared and will be delivered to attendees. At various areas, there will be several LED screens installed. People will be picked up at their locations and dropped off at the site by almost 500 buses.

The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) will spend Rs 12 crore, according to sources, to prepare the location. According to a press release from the state government, Modi will dedicate a number of public development projects in addition to water supply development projects worth Rs 672 crore, drainage projects worth Rs 890 crore, Dream City projects worth Rs 370 crore, and a biodiversity park projects worth Rs 139 crore.

The PM will virtually lay the cornerstone for phase 2 of the Dream (Diamond Research and Mercantile) City project, which is worth Rs 103.40 crore.

A bicycle path, a 13-kilometre walking path, as well as more than six lakh plants and trees will be included in the Biodiversity Park that is being constructed on 87.50 hectares of land along the banks of Kakra Creek in the Bhimrad Bamroli district.

The PM will digitally open the Khoj Museum (Science + Art + Innovation) at the Science Centre in Surat for kids, which will feature interactive exhibits, inquiry-based activities, and investigations focused on curiosity.
