After a shaky start, Indian equities recovered lost ground on Tuesday, powered by gains in IT and commodities. The BSE Sensex gained 150 points to recapture the 53,000-mark in late-morning transactions, while the NSE Nifty 50 gained 60 points to 15,830.

The broader markets were also showing signs of improvement, with the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices climbing up to 0.7 percent. Nifty Realty, Financials, and Consumer Durables were the worst-affected sectors, with losses of up to 1%. The performance of Nifty Metals and FMCG was subdued. On the BSE, 37 equities hit 52-week highs, while 139 scrips hit 52-week lows on the same day.
