Mallikarjun Kharge resigns as Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha
Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge resigned as the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Rajya Sabha on Saturday, one day after he submitted his nomination for the election for the role of party president.
According to sources of India Today, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge resigned as the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Rajya Sabha on Saturday, one day after he submitted his nomination for the election for the role of party president.
Kharge sent Sonia Gandhi, the interim president of the Congress, a letter of resignation in response to the Udaipur Resolution of One Leader One Post.
Digvijay Singh and P Chidambaram are vying to succeed Kharge as the LoP.
Kharge visited senior party leader AK Antony and the former defence minister at Kerala House in Delhi later in the day.

Mallikarjun Kharge, Shashi Tharoor, and KN Tripathi submitted their declarations of candidacy for the Congress presidential election on Friday.
