The chief minister of Rajasthan suggested on Tuesday that the situation is settled there, a day after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi referred to both Ashok Gehlot and his erstwhile deputy Sachin Pilot as assets to the party. When questioned about Rahul Gandhi’s statement that “our leaders are assets, then we are assets,” Mr. Gehlot responded, “Where is the dispute then?”
Gehlot’s comments stood in sharp contrast to the interview he gave to the news agency NDTV last week, in which he referred to Pilot as a “traitor” since the two of them are engaged in a power struggle.

When questioned about the situation, Mr. Gandhi told reporters in Indore on Monday that both leaders were beneficial to the party.

According to Mr. Gehlot, this is the beauty of our party: “There is no scope (for further disagreement) after anything our top leader says,” he told reporters.

Just a few days before Gandhi’s Bharat Judo Yatra is slated to enter Rajasthan, Gehlot made a crude remark last week, to which Pilot delivered a scathing rejoinder. The CM claimed that by working together, all state leaders will make the yatra a success.

He continued, “Rahul Gandhi also meant that every party employee is an asset.

On Thursday, Gehlot said that Pilot is a “ghaddar” (traitor) who cannot succeed him since in 2020, he rebelled against the Congress and attempted to overthrow the state government. Pilot retorted that such “mud-slinging” was ineffective.

The CM informed local reporters that the party’s top priority is the 2023 assembly election and asserted that the general atmosphere is in the Congress’ favour.

“The assembly elections will be won by us. People all around the state are gaining from the novel plans and programmes we have implemented. When I go on visits, I receive an incredible response from the public. It implies that the current administration would be reinstated, he said.

Gehlot criticized the BJP, saying that it should focus on itself rather than criticizing the Congress.
