“We have taken suo moto cognizance of this Morbi incident. But for the vacation, we would have sat on the same day itself… we want some action from your end,” a bench of Chief Justice Aravind Kumar and Justice Ashutosh J Shastri told Advocate General Kamal Trivedi

The State Human Rights Commission, the Urban Development Authority, the Collector of the Morbi District, the State Home Department through its Home Secretary, the Morbi Municipal Corporation through its Chief Officer, and the State have all been ordered to intervene and implead against

By the following Monday, the State must submit a status report. Reports from the State Human Rights Commission must be submitted separately. The matter is currently scheduled for November 14.

Additionally, the State has been instructed to provide a report detailing the actions it has already done in the subject within 10 days. The court of the Chief Justice also conducted a two-minute moment of silence in honour of those who perished in this tragedy.The Oreva business completed repairs and maintenance on the 141-year-old suspension bridge that spans the Machchuu River two weeks ago, allowing it to reopen. A Supreme Court PIL requests a judicial investigation into the situation. A local court has committed four suspects in the case, including two officials of the Oreva firm, to judicial custody.
