Four unidentified militants hiding in a truck shot dead in Jammu

An ongoing operation with security forces in Jammu’s Sidhra area early on December 28, 2022 resulted in the deaths of four heavily-armed unidentified militants, who were travelling to Kashmir in a truck after crossing the border from Pakistan, a police officer said, calling it a “major success” before Republic Day.

“Four terrorists have been killed in the encounter in Sidhra area in Jammu. Seven AK-47 rifles, one M4 rifle, three pistols along with other ammunition were recovered,” additional director general of police (ADGP), Jammu, Mukesh Singh said (Reports).

The militants who were hiding in the truck, according to Additional Director General of Police Mukesh Singh, were well-armed. He continued by saying that the truck driver had fled. According to sources, a search alert has been issued to find him.

“Truck owner is yet to be identified. Truck was going from Jammu to Srinagar. Search is still on in the area,” ADGP Singh said.

“A suspicious movement of a truck, that was moving towards Kashmir, was observed. It was followed and stopped near Sidhra check point, but its driver escaped on the pretext of attending the call of nature,” the ADGP said.
