Former Jet Airways CEO-designate Sanjiv Kapoor joins Saudi Arabia national airlines

Sanjiv Kapoor, the former CEO-designate of the grounded airlines Jet Airways, informed on Wednesday that he has joined the national airlines of Saudi Arabia, Saudia Group. Kapoor has joined as an advisor to Ibrahim Al-Omar, the Director General of the Jeddah based airline.

In his LinkedIn post, he wrote, “I am thrilled to share that I have joined the Saudia Group as Advisor to His Excellency Ibrahim Al-Omar, Director General of the Group.” He added that he will be working towards fulfilling the commitment of airline to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which is to attract more than 100 million tourists to the Kingdom.

This appointment comes at a crucial time when Saudia Group is planning a major expansion and is in the process of ordering 39 wide-body 787 Dreamliner planes from Boeing.

Kapoor decided to step down from his position of CEO-designate of Jet Airways in April, one year after his appointment. He has earlier served as the President of Oberoi Hotels and Resorts, Chief Strategy Officer at Vistara Airlines and Chief Operating Officer at Spicejet.
