‘Dhaakad,’ starring Kangana Ranaut is releasing on OTT
The Kangana Ranaut-starrer Dhaakad is scheduled for a digital release after a big box office disaster.
The Kangana Ranaut-starrer Dhaakad is scheduled for a digital release after a big box office disaster. The film was India’s first big-budget spy thriller with a female lead. However, it was up against Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and fell short of expectations.
Dhaakad, which was released in theatres on May 20, will now be streamed exclusively on Zee5. From July 1 onwards, the picture will be available on the streaming service, roughly 45 days after its theatrical premiere. A social media message from the platform informed followers of the news. The post read, “Keep the fire extinguishers ready! Agent Agni is coming soon to set your screens on fire! Watch the World Digital Premiere of #Dhaakad on 1st July 2022 only on ZEE5.”
Dhaakad was rumored to be getting a theatrical release earlier this month. Bollywood Hungama has revealed the movie’s selling price for different platforms, as the film only made Rs 2.58 crore after its theatrical run. According to the article, the film’s producers were expecting to lose a lot of money since they were selling the film’s satellite rights for ‘scrap value.’
The report read, “With such theatrical results, the satellite and digital revenue put together for Dhaakad would be less than Rs. 5 crores. All in all, the producers will suffer a loss of minimum of Rs. 78 crores on Dhaakad and this would end up being one of the biggest mega-disasters of all time.”
