Cisco to manufacture in India as it targets $1 billion production in the country including exports

Cisco, a global technology leader, announced on Thursday, that it has been planning to start manufacturing in India, which will act as a major step in the expansion of its footprint in the country. This move by the tech giant will not only help support India’s vision to be manufacturing hub, but it is also a part of its strategy to create an even more diverse and resilient global supply chain. It is expected that with this latest investment, Cisco will cater to the growing domestic demands of nation and aims to drive more than $1 billion in combined domestic production and exports in the coming years.
The announcement regarding the new investment comes from the CEO and Chair of Cisco Chuck Robbins in New Delhi, following his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and a series of strategic meetings with External Affair Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, Union Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, Skill Development, Electronics & Technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, CEO of NITI Aayog, B.V.R Subrahmanyam, and Telecom Secretary, K. Rajaraman.
Cisco is now building core manufacturing capabilities in India, including testing, development and logistics, and expanding in-house repair operations. This will not only supports supply chain resiliency, or reduce lead time, or elevating customer experience, but will also add futher impetus to the local economy.
