UN Chief Antonio Guterres pays homage to the victims of 26/11 attacks
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will pay respect to the victims of the Mumbai terror attacks at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel.

On the first day of his three-day visit to India, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres paid respects to the victims of the Mumbai terror attacks at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel.

The UN chief reached India on Wednesday and will be on a three-day official visit.

Accordingly, this will be the UNSG’s first trip to India since he began serving as UNSG in January 2022. In his first term, he had previously been to India from October 1 to October 4, 2018.
Arindam Bagchi, spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs addressed greetings through a tweet which read as “Warm welcome to the UNSG @antonioguterres as he arrives in Mumbai for his official visit to India from 18-20 October 2022,”

The UNSG began his tour to India by paying respect to the victims of the 26/11 terrorist attacks At the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai. According to a press statement from the MEA, the UNSG will also address the public at the IIT Mumbai campus on the topic “India @75: UN-India Partnership: Strengthening South-South Cooperation.”

He will accompany Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) and unveil brochure, logo, and tagline of the mission on October 20, 2022, in Gujarat (Ekta Nagar, Kevadiya).
India’s trademark programme at the UN and other international forums, Mission LiFE, will promote climate action and the early achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. In order to mobilize 1 billion Indians to become pro-planet people (3P), who would interact in simple and direct environmental and climate-friendly behavior/actions in their daily lives to motivate a shared commitment to protect our planet, its central idea reflects India’s ethos of respect for Mother Nature.
The press statement further added, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar would hold bilateral discussions with the UN chief on issues such as global concern, steps to deepen India’s engagement with the UN, including through India’s upcoming Presidency of the G20 and reformed multilateralism.
Meantime, In Kevadiya, Guterres may likely pay floral tributes at the Statue of Unity. Following which, he will also be visiting India’s first solar-powered village in Modhera (Gujarat) and visit other development projects in the area. UNSG before heading towards his next destination will also be visiting the Sun Temple in Modhera.
