Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the latest route of the Vande Bharat Express today during his visit to Himachal Pradesh.

The train will run between New Delhi and Amb Andaura and it will be the fourth route of this train to be introduced in the country. This train provides a safer, more comfortable experience and the train is capable of achieving higher speeds.

The new service will be introduced next week, cutting the distance between Delhi and Chandigarh travel time to three hours. The journey from the national capital to Himachal Pradesh would take almost five hours.

This is the fourth route to be introduced, the existing routes of Vande Bharat Express are Delhi- Varanasi, Delhi-Katra and Mumbai- Gandhinagar.

“It accelerates to 100 Km/h in just 52 seconds. The introduction of the train will help boost tourism in the region and provide a comfortable and faster mode of travel,” reads a government statement. It would also help pilgrims and devotees visiting religious places in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana, the Railways Ministry said.

PM Modi also dedicated IIIT Una “to the nation” on Thursday while he was in the state that is going to the polls. In 2017, the first stone for it was laid. According to the government, this Institute now has more than 530 students enrolled in courses.

In support of the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, PM Modi also lay the foundation for the Bulk Drug Park at Haroli in the Una district, which will cost more than 1900 crore to construct. This is anticipated to strengthen the state economy by lowering imports, attracting investment of about Rs. 10,000 crores, and creating more than 20,000 jobs.
