Go First hikes pilots pay by Rs 100,000 to retain talent at the airline

Go First airlines has planned to raise salaries of captains by Rs 100,000 a month and Rs 50,000 for first officers as it tries to resumes its operations after filing for insolvency on May 2.

The raise offered by the airline would come into force from June 1 onwards, according to an email seen by Bloomberg News. The reports have suggested that they airline is willing to offer the same to the employees who have left the company, on condition that they will withdraw their resignation before June 15.

The airline which was earlier named Go Airlines, was renamed to Go First two years ago, said that it will soon reintroduce a “longevity bonus” for long-serving staff.

Currently, the captains of the airline earn Rs 53,000 on an average, compared to SpiceJet’s Rs 750,000, which has increased its wages twice in recent months, as per the data obtained from AmbitionBox.

Last week, India’s aviation watchdog DGCA gave Go First a period of 30 days to submit its comprehensive plan to resume their operations. This comes after the wished expressed their wish to resume their operations shortly. The DGCA asked Go First to include details such as their financial capacity and management and the safety levels.
