The plane had departed from Delhi. The smoke was discovered while the aircraft was 5,000 feet in the air. The business has released a statement.

“A SpiceJet aircraft operating from Delhi to Jabalpur returned safely to the Delhi airport today morning after the crew noticed smoke in the cabin while passing 5000ft; passengers safely disembarked,” it said.

A SpiceJet plane last month that was headed for Delhi had to make an emergency landing because one of its two engines had caught fire.

The cockpit crew believed that a bird had struck engine number one during takeoff, according to SpiceJet. After stopping the damaged engine, the pilots made their way back to Patna. The bird strike on the fan destroyed at least three of its blades.

There had been an evacuation of all 185 persons.
