In choppy trading on Tuesday, Indian equity indices ended higher and extended their winning streak to four sessions. After China cut the Covid-19 quarantine time for incoming travellers in half, Asian stocks turned bullish, and the local indices recovered some of their session’s early losses. At centralised facilities in Beijing, the quarantine period has been shortened from 14 to seven days.
Gains were restrained, though, by a spike in crude oil prices following last week’s collapse, which fueled inflation fears. The price of Brent crude futures increased $1.77, or 1.54%, to $116.86.
The broader NSE Nifty advanced 18 points or 0.11 percent to conclude at 15,850 today, while the 30-share BSE Sensex increased 16 points or 0.03 percent to close at 53,177.
