On Monday night, close to Chaharpur hamlet and about 40 kilometres north of Amritsar city, the military observed a drone entering Indian Territory.
The drone was shot down at 11.05 p.m. by two female constables from the 73 battalion after they fired 25 bullets at it. The BSF discovered a partially damaged hexacopter after conducting a search operation.
According to the BSF, the 18.4 kg drone was carrying 3.11 kg of drugs that were wrapped in white polythene and fastened underneath it.
The BSF troops reportedly shot down another hexacopter near Kalash Havelian village in Tarn Taran district carrying 6.6 kg of heroin.
On Monday night, the BSF personnel discovered a second drone, which prompted them to start shooting at the UAV.
The 20 kg hexacopter was discovered in a partially damaged state close to the village of Kalash Havelian during the search operation, according to BSF authorities.
An official of the border guarding force stated, “Alert troops of the BSF were once again able to capture a drone and stop a smuggling attempt.”
At 10:57 PM on Monday, a second drone was spotted close to the Vadai Cheema border outpost, according to an official.
The UAV returned to Pakistan after the BSF soldiers started firing at it.
The BSF soldiers also downed a Pakistani drone last Friday close to the international border in Amritsar.
