On Thursday, chaos broke out in Delhi’s Saket Court when a large group of attorneys gathered outside the courtroom to call for the death penalty for Aaftab Amin Poonawala, who is accused of killing his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar.
Just as the judge decided to consider motions submitted by the Delhi Police, the attorneys shouted “Shraddha ke hatyare ko fansi do, fansi do” (hang Shraddha’s killer).
According to reports, 100 Saket district court attorneys who often represent clients gathered at 3 p.m. when they learned that the defendant will be brought before metropolitan magistrate Aviral Shukla. Surendra Kumar, one of the protesting attorneys, claimed that the demonstration was organised because of the accused’s horrible deed. “We demand that the matter be thoroughly investigated. According to Kumar, it should be decided quickly in a fast-track court, as reported by the news source PTI.

After the judge approved the police’s request for Poonawala’s production via video conference and stated that it would be finished at 4 pm, the group of people left.
“I am aware of the sensitivity of the matter, media coverage…Public traction…,” the judge said.
In contrast to the police request for a 10-day hold, the Delhi court has given Poonawala an additional five days of custody with the Delhi Police. The accused’s narco-analysis test was permitted by the court as well.
In order to gather more evidence, the Delhi Police had requested time to go to the Badarpur and Chattarpur forests in Delhi as well as the Parvati Valley in Himachal Pradesh.
Poonawala’s live-in partner Shraddha was brutally killed on May 18. Her body was dismembered into 35 pieces and scattered around the capital city over a period of days. The victim’s father submitted a “missing persons” report, which led to the case being discovered last month.
