Sophie Choudry, an English singer and an actress based in India was active in Hindi films of the 90’s and also had a stint as a former MTV India VJ has called out the ageism she is facing. He now uploads pop videos this time she has come up with “Gori hai” which is remix of the original “Gori Hai Kalaiyaan” from Aaj Ka Arjun starring Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Prada. In one of her interviews she opened about her pursuit to stay relevant for over 20 years without getting chances to act in too many films and also coping with age-based discrimination on social media. She says that staying relevant is very hard and thus she has eased down on herself over the years. She also called out that every day she receives messages where people tell her “They were in school when Ek Pardesi came out and now they look old, but I don’t. Once in a while I get messages of people telling me to ‘act my age’, but what’s that? I’ve never thought of age as a number.”
