Known for his ability to render Khayal, Thumri, Bhajan, Abhang, Tarana and Geet without diluting their individuality, Arunkumar has built a reputation as a versatile performing vocalist. With a sweet, melodious and soulful voice, he performs across India, offering concerts that feature pure Hindustani classical as well as light music forms such as bhajans, ghazals, thumris, tappa and geet. His bhajans and spiritual mahamantras, in particular, have resonated with spiritual seekers, many of whom praise the calming and immersive quality of his singing.

In this new release, Arunkumar explores Raga Bhoop, a Hindustani classical raga known for its pentatonic structure using five notes in both ascent and descent. Classified under the Audav jaati and associated with Bhakti rasa, Raga Bhoop is recognised for its tranquil and uplifting mood. The raga belongs to the Kalyan thaat and is known as Mohanam in Carnatic music. Its soft melodic movement is traditionally believed to create a serene and energising atmosphere.

The bhajan ‘Shri Ramachandra Kripaalu Bhajamana’ is a celebrated devotional composition by Goswami Tulsidas, the poet saint and philosopher best known for his deep devotion to Lord Rama and for authoring the epic Ramcharitmanas. The lyrics praise Lord Rama’s compassion, beauty and divine virtues, while seeking his presence in the devotee’s heart and the removal of inner vices such as lust, anger and greed.

The audio of ‘Raga Bhoop’ has been distributed worldwide by TuneCore across more than 150 music platforms including Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, YouTube Music and Amazon Prime Music. Building on the audio’s reach, Arunkumar has now introduced a dedicated music video on YouTube to widen its devotional impact.

The music for the project has been composed by Arunkumar and Shivakumar, who have also crafted the video presentation. The production brings together experienced technicians and artists, blending classical purity with contemporary recording and visual techniques.

Credits for the project include lyrics by Tulsidas, programming and keyboards by Milind Bhargav Gune, sound recording by Biju Nair, sound mixing by Satish Gupta, camera and lights by Surendra Koshiyari, make-up by Sunny Jaiswal, and editing, VFX, DI and AI by Jeon Singh. The audio was recorded and the video shot at Jaiprakash Agarwal’s studio.

With this release, Arunkumar continues his effort to present classical and devotional music in accessible formats for modern audiences, while retaining the spiritual and musical depth of traditional compositions.
