Shilpa Shetty, a Bollywood actress, took part in Big Brother in 2007. The show included 14 celebrities who were referred to as reality show participants. Shilpa was exposed to racial insults from her co-contestant Jade Goody at the time. Despite all odds, Shilpa was crowned Big Brother’s final winner. In a recent interview, the actress explained why she was scared to participate in an international reality show.

In an interview with Mashable, the actress stated, “I saw a couple of episodes and I got scared with what I saw. I said I am not going to do all of this. So my contract was very watertight. My mother told them very clearly. Listen, we are Indians, and we won’t do this baring all and all of that.” Shilpa also stated that she predicted she would be eliminated from the reality show in the second week. “Seeing that, every week I would be nominated and I would get saved. I thought, how is this happening? Then, in the third week, it somewhere dawned upon me that there are a lot of Asians.” The actress added that she won the reality show because she received a lot of support from the South Asian community in the United Kingdom (UK).

Shilpa Shetty’s next film is Nikamma, which she will star in. Along with Abhimanyu Dassani and Shirley Setia, the actress appears in the film. Shilpa’s comeback film was meant to be Nikamma, however, Hungama 2 came out first. In terms of Nikamma, the picture is set to hit theatres on June 17th.
