Goodfellas actor Ray Liotta dies at 67: media reports

Hollywood actor Ray Liotta, who starred in Martin Scorsese’s gangster classic Goodfellas, has passed away, US media reported Thursday. He was 67. Movie trade publication Deadline said he passed away in the Dominican Republic, where he was filming a new movie. TMZ and Variety also reported his death.
Despite success prior to his career, Liotta’s breakout role came in 1990 when he was given a role as real-life mobster Henry Hill in Scorsese’s gangster classic.
He worked along with Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci in what is widely considered perhaps the best movie of the 20th century, with scenes that keep on being referred to as cultural touchstones.

Goodfellas” won one Oscar, and was nominated for five others.
A year prior, Liotta had portrayed baseball star Shoeless Joe Jackson in Field of Dreams, playing inverse Kevin Costner in a widely revered sports film.
